Formentera is a destination unmatched by its sheer beauty and the amazing quality of its beaches. A place to enjoy an exceptional summer holiday. The peace and tranquillity of the island and its landscapes offer many a surprise and captivate even the most discerning tourists. This wonderful pocket-sized island located in the Balearic archipelago covers just 83.2 square kilometres and boasts a coastline of 69 kilometres. It is full of beaches and cliffs nestled among lush vegetation and sweeping dunes where you can go on leisurely strolls and take photos of the incredibly sparkling and colourful Mediterranean landscapes.

Formentera boasts a wonderfully mild climate from November to April, with highs averaging around 16°C. Temperatures in summer are very pleasant and hover between 20°C and 30°C, cooling down a little at night. However, the sea breeze provides wonderful relief from the heat. A perfect climate to enjoy the island’s beaches and take part in outdoor activities.

The capital of this pocket-sized paradise is San Francisco Javier, a welcoming, friendly and laid-back town. A must-visit is the Ethnological Museum to learn about the ancient customs of rural and maritime life from yesteryear. Another fascinating sight is the Church of San Francisco, an eighteenth-century fortress, which is right in the heart of town opposite the Town Hall. You can stroll through the pedestrianised centre and stop off at the many coffee shops and craft shops that make this town so special.

You can also visit the villages scattered across the island. Besides Es Pujols (the closest to Hotel Rosamar Formentera) and the capital, San Francisco Javier, you can explore places such as Sant Ferran de Ses Roques, El Pilar de La Mola, Es Caló de Sant Agustí and La Savina.

Our hotel, located in an unbeatable setting

Right by the hotel, just 50 metres away, is the Levante coastline, which is located on the northeast side of the island. From south to north, you'll find several beaches such as Es Pujols, Canyers, Sa Roqueta and Levante, a long strip of white sand that stretches to the island of Espalmador. On the northeast side are the beaches of Illetes and Cavall d'en Borràs. Further down, on the west side, is Cala Saona, while on the tip of the island is Es Cap de Barbaria. The north-central side of the island is home to Tramuntana Beach, while on the southwest side is Migjorn.

Levante Beach, the closest to our hotel, is the epitome of paradise. Light, soft sands lapped by stunning turquoise waters that will make you fall in love. All of this is thanks to Posidonia, a marine plant that lies on the seabed. It filters sediments and bestows an exceptional transparency to the sea. What's more, it oxygenates and maintains the underwater ecosystem. This the perfect place for scuba diving and snorkelling, observing the hundreds of species, plants and marine animals found in the Ses Salines Nature Park. This beach has parking, a bar, kiosks, restaurants, sun loungers, lifeguards, litter bins, an area for dogs, a nudist area and disabled access.

Everything you'll need for your holiday in Formentera. An unforgettable experience that you'll want to repeat year after year!
